Recovery Support Peer

Evolution House - Williamsburg, VA

As a Recovery Support Peer, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, reliable, and passionate about helping others build a stable, healthy, and fulfilling life.

You will work directly with residents in a structured recovery environment, providing guidance, accountability, and encouragement while helping maintain a safe and supportive community.

Job Responsibilities

Provide Peer Support & Mentorship

  • Build meaningful, supportive relationships with residents
  • Offer nonjudgmental guidance and encouragement in recovery
  • Model positive recovery behaviors and lifestyle choices

Support Daily Operations & Resident Accountability

  • Supervise residents and ensure adherence to house policies
  • Encourage responsibility through daily routines and chores
  • Maintain a respectful, structured, and recovery-focused environment

Medication & Documentation Responsibilities

  • Administer medications in accordance with MAR and state regulations
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR system
  • Complete shift notes and group/individual session documentation
  • Conduct shift change medication counts and ensure compliance

Monitor Safety & Well-being

  • Observe and report behavioral concerns or incidents
  • Conduct drug screenings when appropriate
  • Identify potential crisis situations and escalate as needed

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Work closely with peers and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Communicate updates via supervisor and team channels (e.g., Slack)
  • Contribute to a team-oriented, supportive workplace culture

Transportation & Community Engagement

  • Transport residents to meetings, appointments, and recovery activities
  • Encourage participation in recovery-focused events and programs

House Management Support

  • Assist with inventory and maintaining a clean, organized living space
  • Ensure residents maintain personal and shared spaces appropriately

Advocacy & Resource Connection

  • Help connect residents with community resources and services
  • Encourage self-advocacy and personal growth

Requirements

  • Completion of a certified Medication Administration course (required for medication duties)
  • Ability to meet state regulations and compliance standards
  • Valid driver's license (for transportation responsibilities)
  • Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) strongly preferred
  • Candidates with CPRS or those working toward RPRS are encouraged to apply

In this role, you will provide clinical support through individual and group counseling, working as part of a collaborative care team dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based treatment in a supportive environment.

Job Responsibilities

Provide Clinical Counseling Services

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices
  • Support clients in developing recovery goals and relapse-prevention strategies
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and program requirements
  • Ensure all records meet regulatory, licensing, and insurance standards

Collaborative Care
